More Stability to Unfold with Ease

Shanti Home – Photo Shanti Home

There are only a few spaces left…

The classes of these two days will help you understand that, in yoga, stability is more important than flexibility. We will explore various poses from a new perspective, since we will practise from the firm rediscovered basis of our two feet and from our true centre, our pelvis, more precisely, our perineum. We will realise and feel that all our body arches are interconnected: arches of the feet, perineum, soft palate, fontanelle and, of course, diaphragm. An imbalance in one arch creates an imbalance in the other ones and the equilibrium recovered in one of them helps realign the other arches as well. The importance of the breath will be obvious: if the diaphragm moves unhindered with the breath, the other arches are not frozen, they go up and down, and, so the yoga poses are neither static nor rigid, they “breathe”. We can yield to Mother Earth, which, in return, gives us the energy to rebound and unfold in the poses.

There will be no so-called advanced poses, no search of cardiac output increase and no direct strengthening of the superficial core muscles. There will be slow movements brought about by the breath, which will enable us to be aware of what will be going on in our bodies. We will practise from our deeper core without damaging the lumbar region. From the sitting position we will continue our journey on all-fours, standing, lying prone and supine. In all these positions, we will yield gently to Mother Earth from our renewed stability and, as the rebounce happens from the Earth, we will unfold easily in the poses. The last part of the afternoon classes will be devoted to Restorative Yoga. At the end of each class, we will dive into the crucial moment of relaxation, allowing our bodies to enjoy the benefits of the practice and allowing us to savour the feeling of our revitalised body.

Yoga classes will be soothing and tailored to everyone’s needs, whatever your condition and whether you are new to yoga or a seasoned practitioner.
